

Larry Whiteside was born in Los Angeles on May 1, 1947 he graduated Newport Harbor High school in 1966 and obtained a degree in Photography from Orange Coast in 1968. Larry also served in the Army, the Big Red One unit, from 1968-1970 where he was awarded the Purple Heart after he was wounded by shrapnel repairing a radio tower during an attack just outside of Saigon.
Larry was a bus driver for the Newport-Mesa Unified School District for 15 years before he moved to the Pacific Northwest 10 years ago to be closer to his sister and our family.
He was infamous for his fun, quirky sense of humor, and kind heart, as anyonewho knew him can attest. He loved photography, music and his family and friends.
His loss is tremendous to those who knew and loved him.
Larry is survived by his sister, Susan Geverink, brother-in-law Gary Geverink, his nephews Larry and Brenton Geverink, his great nephew Donovan Geverink, and great niece Lettisia Geverink, and his partner for 15 years, Larisa Thomas.
A Celebration of Life will take place at his sisters house on December 14, 2015. Larry's final resting place will be next to his mother and father at Rose Hills Cemetery in Whittier, California. That service will take place February 6, 2015.
