

He was born June 1, 1936 in Everett Washington to Mark and Patricia Sampson. Darrell is survived by his son, Todd Sampson of Marysville; Grandson, Joshua Sampson of Everett; Two nephews, Curt & Craig Sampson of Marysville.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mark and Patricia Sampson, his brother Don Sampson, his nephews Chris Sampson & Cory Sampson.
Darrell graduated from Everett High in 1955 and began college shortly after. During summers he worked with the Forest Service fighting forest fires. After college, Darrell joined the Army. After he got out of the Army he and some friends traveled throughout Norway for a full summer. When he got back from Norway he went to work for Scott Paper as a chip driver. Darrell found his calling and became a Longshoreman in 1967. He joined The Sons of Norway and played soccer for their team. He married Paula Prock in 1967 and moved to Marysville. Darrell loved teaching speed skating, he taught for many years. During that time he took a group of students on a trip to Russia for training. His other hobbies included fishing, duck hunting & his family. Darrell loved spending time with his son in Crescent Bar & in the mountains near Ronald.
A celebration of Darrell’s life will be held Saturday, May 3, 2014 at Noon at Schaefer-Shipman Funeral Home in Marysville. A gathering will be held at his home after the service: 11412 44th Dr. NE, Marysville WA 98271
