Dean was born and raised in a sod house on the Nebraska prairie. Fleeing the dustbowl with his family and working their way through Wenatchee, they finally settled in Snohomish. After graduating from high school he joined the Merchant Marines and went off to sea in WWII. He would tell you that it was all to prepare him for a lifetime of love with Lily Malgesini. They settled in Marysville and have lived there ever since. He left us two weeks shy of their 70th wedding anniversary. In that time he completed a 37 year career at Weyerhauser; they raised 4 kids, countless nephews, nieces, grandchildren, and neighbor kids, fixed most of the cars, radios, tvs, wiring, and other issues for most of the neighborhood, made Real Good Wine, and was a reminder to all of the power of love. Survived by wife Lily, sons - Larry (Paula), Tom (Kim); daughters - Diane Springer (Ron-deceased) and Colette Devery (Tony), and brother Don of Nebraska. The best man we’ve known, we’ll carry his example with us always.
Come celebrate his life with us on Sunday, May 22nd from 1:00 – 3:00 at the Kellog Marsh Grange Hall in Marysville: 10005 67th Ave NE.
If you can make it, come with a story to tell or a song to sing. In lieu of flowers or cards the family suggests a donation to any Hospice organization. If you can’t make it, Pop will enjoy it if you split a bottle of Lucky Lager with a friend and spend a happy hour appreciating life.
