Edward Buck Davis

Our father was born to Thomas and Sally Toney Davis in Checotah Oklahoma. Dad is a direct descendant of Sequoia/George Gist, the inventor of the Cherokee alphabet. Dad took immense pride in the fact that his mother was a midwife, delivering over 100 babies.

Dad stayed and worked on the family farm until his teens when he took off to Haskell. Haskell is a Native American college and boarding school. While at Haskell he finished High school and the received an Electricians Certificate.

At Haskell, Dad started performing in college and local bands. At the age of nineteen he was selected to sing at the national American Indian conference in Colorado.

Dad and his brother Bob had a local radio show with both singing hymns on Sundays. The Cherokee three.

Dad joined the United States Army reserves in 1953 and received an honorable discharge in 1961. He ended his military career as an E-5 SSgt.

Dad moved back to Oklahoma and in the early fifties met our mother, Carolyn Pollard. The two moved to Pasadena Texas and then to Deer Park Texas. Dad worked for Phillip’s petroleum in Houston, Texas.

Dad played music on the weekends in Houstin and surrounding cities.

Dad volunteered for the local cub scouts and little league.

He worked with the local church youth choir. He taught the kids how to play instruments and vocal training.

My dad was hired by Boeing in Seattle in the late 60’s. Dad worked as an electrician and still played music on the weekends. He then worked for several electrician companies in the Seattle, Everett area.

Dad switched to full-time music in the mid 70’s. He played up and down the I-5 corridor. He played at the jet deck, Johnys at fife and the Sea horse in Mukilteo.

Our parents split up in the mid 70’s. Our father met and then married Jolene “jolly and remained together until her death in 2021.

Dad then started working for the DOT and later got hired to be a State electrical inspector. He retired from that job in the early 90’s. After retirement, our dad and Jolly started to travel, spending winters in Arizona in their trusted RV.

Dads and Jolly loved the Mariners and Seahawks and went to games throughout their years together.

Dad kept working up to the time of his death. He played music and worked as a job site administrator.

Dad used his musical talent to help people. He often went to retirement homes and set up his equipment to sing one song to one person in the home.

Dad was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer, only weeks before his death. He passed with honor and grace that did not surprise the people that loved him.

Our Dad told us:

I have cancer. Cancer does not have me.

Dad was proceeded in death by his father and mother Thomas and Sally Toney Davis. His brothers, Joe, Jesse, Robert, and his sister Florence. His son and our bother Darrell Martin Davis. His wife Jolene Davis.

He is survived by numerous family and friends.

His Son, Steve, and Karen Davis: Grand kids, Lorenzo Davis (Adam), Clinton Davis (Morgan) and Rachel Davis (Mike)

His Son Scott and Carrie Davis. Grandson Tanner and Granddaughter Courtney.

Son Kevin Lachapelle. Granddaughter Melanie and Grandson Blake.

His daughter-in-law, Natalie

Daughter Kristi Finan. Granddaughter’s Stephany and Terrah. Grandsons Joshua and Nickolas.

And. 7 Great grandchildren.

His Girlfriend Charlene Davidson and her daughters Rachelle Rubash and Charla Lemasters. What a blessing these three were when Dad got sick.

He is also survived by his two friends The two Sams.
