Glenny “Joe” Zachry left this world peacefully on July 27, 2018 in Everett, Washington at age 70 surrounded by loved ones. Joe was born on January 18, 1948 in Everett Washington. He was the first born child of Glen and Eilene Zachry. He is survived by his parents, his children: Rachel, Dale, Tuyen, Anthony, Deborah, Marty, his brother Wayne, his grandchildren: Regina, Ryanna, Ruth, Rafaella, Sadale, Eli, Joseph, Denae, Jade, Grace, and his special friend Lut. He wore the title of papa and grandpa to many unofficial children and grandchildren. He lost his beloved sister, Maydene, on October 26, 2015.
Joe lived his life as a free spirit and tried to live without regret. After graduating Lake Stevens High School in 1966, he attended Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa. He decided to leave Palmer before he finished his degree and returned home for a short time before deciding to hitch hike across country to Washington D.C. He lived in D.C. for a year or so before he returned home again to work at Cuz Concrete, the family business. He retired from Cuz Concrete earlier this year.
Joe gave his love to those around him generously and was the person to call if you needed help, wanted advice, or if you just needed someone to listen. His words were always honest and full of encouragement and support. He had a great sense of humor and could quickly turn a stranger into a friend. Aside from spending time with his family, he loved to talk about politics, sports, go to garage sales, antiquing, gold mining, and playing poker.
There will be a Celebration of Life held at Glen Eagle Golf Course in Arlington, Washington on Wednesday, August 1st from 12:00 to 2:00pm. If you had the privilege of knowing Joe, please join us in sharing memories and celebrating the life of a wonderful man. Memorials may be sent to: Kids 2 Camp 20800 Marine Drive Stanwood, WA 98292.
