Our father was born May 2, 1920 in the little town of Max Bass, North Dakota, passed away August 14, 2014. He and his brother moved to Washington in the late 1930's. He joined the Army during WWII, upon his return to Tacoma, Wash. he married our mother, Gladys. They made the journey to Marysville in the late 40's where they raised a family. James was a builder in the Marysville area, and retired from the plasters union. He leaves behind is wife of 74 years, Gladys. He also leaves behind his three children: Carolyn Brashler and her husband, Lee, Rodney Elvrom and his wife, Cindy, and Randy Elvrom and his wife, Diane; plus many grandchildren. At our Fathers request there will be no funeral services. There will be a family gathering at a later date. Our father was always there for all of us, a great man. Just before he passed explained, "When the bus leaves town I will be on it", when asked where he was going he replied "I will let you know when I get there". Arrangements under the direction of Schaefer-Shipman Funeral Home, Marysville, WA.

My heart breaks for Gladys at this time. I am so sorry about Jim, I have to say Jim was one of the best people i know. He had a heart of gold, told it like it was and was just a solid man. He was the best neighbor a person could ask for. We lived next to Gladys and Jim for the past 23 years. I enjoyed so much going to their house and checking on them, Jim loved my banana bread and pumpkin bread so i would try and get that over to them regularly. I will miss him terribly and my sympathy to Gladys and the family. Just to know him was an honor.

I miss you already, but I know I will see you again someday. My trips to North Dakota will never be the same. I'm saving my last copy of the Minot Daily that I never got to you. Your work on Earth is done. RIP Grandpa Jim.

Grandpa Jim was an amazing man. Would not be where I'm at or do what I do without him. Lived a long life and never got tired of his stories. Always there for childhood games or to fix or build a house. Taught everyone something and will never be forgotten! RIP Grandpa Jim! I love U!!!
