

Jim was a wonderful, compassionate, loving husband, father, papa, brother, uncle and friend. He died on Monday after a short battle with cancer. He will be missed by all that knew him. Jim will always be remembered for his unique sense of humor, personal values and love for his family. When Jim was around, the room was always filled with love, laughter and a bit of magic.
Jim was born 57 years ago on Hamilton Air Force Base in California. As a boy he lived the life of an Air Force brat, traveling the world. 1969 found him with his family in San Bernardino, California where he met the love of his life, Barbara. In 1979 after graduating from Cal Poly University, with a degree in Agricultural Business Management, he married Barbara Seavey, his high school sweetheart.
In 1984 Jim began his career in aerospace at Northrop Aircraft Company in Southern California. In 1990, the family moved to Seattle, Washington where Jim worked with Northrop and later Vought Aircraft.
While he was building his career, Jim and Barbara were also building their beautiful family with three lovely daughters and years later three wonderful grandchildren. Jim loved being a Dad and Grandpa. Jim also found time to be quietly active in various community charities. It brought him great joy to be able to coach his daughters' soccer and basketball teams throughout their years in Marysville, Washington.
Jim leaves behind his wife of 31 years, Barbara; his daughters, Allison Fogelstrom and her husband, Jeremy, Kaitlin and Jessica and her fiance, Rusty; his grandchildren, Kiersten and Dominic Fogelstrom and Jackson Murphy; his brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Martha Murphy, of Wildwood, MO; his sister and brother-in-law, Katy and Craig Turnbull, of Seward, AK; mother-in-law, Helen Seavey, of Morro Bay, CA; sisters and brothers-in-law, Rick and Susan Seavey, of Lancaster, PA, Bill and Terry Paske, of Morro Bay, CA, John and Bonnie McKenna, of Victor, MT; and many adoring nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind many dear friends who were an important part of his life.
He was preceeded in death by his parents, Bill and Margaret Murphy; father-in-law, Richard Seavey; and sister-in-law, Susan McKenna.
Jim made the world a better place to be and will be missed forever.
A celebration of life service will be held at 1 p.m. on September 13, 2010, at Schaefer-Shipman Funeral Home in Marysville, WA.
