He leaves his wife of 48 years, Laurel; sister Shirley Burris; special friends Bob Terrell & Barbara Clonch; daughter Suzanne Holt; son Wade Roses (Angela Newman); son James Louis Roses Il; step daughters Jordana Roses and Jennifer Reinhardt; Grandchildren Elizabeth, Lucas, Ashley and Matthew; great grandchildren Gabriel, Zoe, Adelyn, Benjamin and a large extended family.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents Louis R. Roses and Gladys (Goodman), brother Alan.
Born and raised in West Seattle, Jim loved his cars, getting into trouble constantly with the police, neighbors and his dad.
Joining the Army in 1962 was his dream. He rose through the ranks quickly, becoming a commissioned officer. He served in Vietnam, earning the Bronze Star and Purple Heart. He was discharged in 1969 with rank of Captain.
He met Laurel Dalrymple at ONC Freight Co. where Jim was a truck driver. They married in 1975, during Jim's leave from ice truck driving on the Alaskan Pipeline. He loved truck driving under any conditions. In 1979, returning home to the family farm, he started driving for the Post Office and eventually becoming Supervisor of Vehicle Maintenance in Seattle. Jim and Laurel raised their children on the farm planting gardens, raising cows, pigs, goats, a pony, chickens, dogs and cats. The children loved this part of their lives. Always rehashing over the memories of those days at get-togethers.
All his life he loved camping, hunting and above all fishing. Our RV Club the Westsiders, went to Conconully, WA every year to fish. Jim was member of the American Legion Post 17 and the VFW in Centralia where he and Laurel lived for 20 years before moving to Marysville Washington.
Jim was a loving husband. His sense of humor was beyond measure. He loved his children, was kind and compassionate to his friends and family. He will be missed by so many.
