Where does one begin to tell the story of this wonderful, inspirational, and funny lady. Jean was one of six children born to Roman and Cecilia Slaby. She was born Feb. 20, 1911 in Chicago where she lived her early years. In 1944, she moved to Washington with her husband Anton S. Glab to start a Texaco Station on Rucker Hill in Everett. Her quick wit and sense of humor were always present and enjoyed by all who knew her. Her devotion to her faith, family and friends never wavered. Her faith in God was strong and kept her going until He called her home. Jean was a long-standing member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Marysville. Our heart-felt thanks to her devoted friends for their help and friendship.
Some of Jean’s favorite things to do included family; play cards (she beat us a poker a lot); walking; visiting friends and giving a helping hand to all. She loved to sing and in her earlier years she enjoyed playing the concertina. Jean spent many years tutoring children and if she received a book, she would ask that it be given to a library so children could enjoy it. She had a very full and productive life and will be missed.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Anton S. Glab; her son David Zachery; and her siblings, Frank Slade, Marion Slaby Anderson, Christine Slaby Weiss, Ceil Slaby Para, and Joseph Slaby. Jean is survived by four generations of nieces and nephews to carry on her legacy as well as many friends. The family would like to thank the staff at Marysville Care Center for their devotion and care of Jean. They went above and beyond their duties in caring for this wonderful lady.
