

John was born to Jay and Mary Ann Winsor on September 2, 1944, in Snohomish, WA. He left us unexpectedly from a heart attack on January 28, 2017. (John's father passed away when John was two). He was raised in Everett, WA, where he attended Monroe Elementary School, North Jr., and graduated from Everett High School in 1963. John was drafted in December 1965 and proudly served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam where he was an Air Gunner in the 121' Assault Helicopter Company. He came home a Decorated Vietnam War Veteran. Johnny still met with the surviving members of the 121st Company each year in different parts of the U.S. During his high school years, Johnny worked after school at Shopland Grocery Store and Carl's Bakery. He then worked at Boeing, Weyerhaeuser and worked 25 years at Scott Paper Co/Kimberly Clark retiring in 2005. During his time there he served as a Shop Stewart, Trustee for Local 183, and Trustee for the Association of Western Pulp and Paper Workers. He was in charge of the Annual Labor Day Picnic for over 15 years and involved in the Boater's club. He also served on the Board of Trustees at Mill Town Credit Union serving as President for two years. For many years, John had season tickets to the Huskie Football Games, Seahawks and Silver Tips. He also belonged to the Arlington Genealogy Society and Port Susan Camping Club. John loved to hunt, fish, enjoyed camping, the theatre, traveling and loved being with family and friends. He had many special memories of the times he and his grandson, Elliot went fishing in Canada. John was a story teller, had a great sense of humor, was fun loving, had patience with everyone, always took time to make you feel special and what might surprise some people, he loved to shop! John was preceded in death by his father, Jay, his parents, John and Mary Ann Zevenbergen, his brother, Dave, his brother-in-law, Einar, his nephew, Shem, his father-in-law, Harry Payne and his brother-in-law, and sister-in-law, Dick and Nancy Payne. He is survived by his best friend and wife of 51 years, Lynda, his daughter, Julie (Wes) Jones-Knutsen; his grandchildren, Fallon Winsor, Elliot Jones, and Michael Knutsen, and his mother-in-law, Ida Payne. He also leaves behind his brothers and sisters, Helen Hendrickson, Carol (Bill) Porn, Jim (Anne) Winsor, Dolly (Bob) Gay, Dean Zevenbergen and Don (Linda) Zevenbergen; his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Rae Payne, Ann (John) Coleman, Bill (Mary) Payne and Kathleen (Andrew) Gilkerson; his special friends the Warren family, Danny, Robin, Kelly (Stephen) and Carine and Kevin Esser; also numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, Uncle and Aunt Gene and Billie Zevenbergen and many, many, many friends. The family would like to thank those who helped John at the Silver Tips Game where he collapsed and to the wonderful staff at Providence Medical Center who tried so hard to keep him with us. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in John's name to the Marysville Food Bank, American Veteran's Association, and Children's Hospital or to your favorite charity . A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 4, 2017, at the Marysville Nazarene Church, 8240 64th St. NE, Marysville, 98270. Officiating will be his nephew, Pastor Aaron Gay.
