Joseph Mach Cooley, affectionately known as Mach, aged 2, of Snohomish, WA, returned to his Father in Heaven on May 10, 2026. His official death date was May 12, 2026 after following hospital protocol for organ donation. He died surrounded by loving family and friends after battling complications from a heart valve repair procedure.
Born on April 20th, 2024 (a palindrome) in Kirkland, WA, Mach brought an immense amount of love and laughter into the world. During his two beautiful years, he loved reading, dancing, singing, playing outside, digging in the dirt, playing with animals, watching the skies for airplanes and birds, drawing with impeccable detail, and being with his family. He loved all stuffed animals and would cuddle them aggressively. He loved to sit on toy vehicles no matter the size and scoot himself around the house. He was a notorious shoe thief and would happily walk around wearing shoes way too big for him. Mach liked to make silly faces and make people laugh. He loved to be tickled and often held up his feet or lifted up his shirt to get tickles. Mach was also incredibly strong and helpful. He was generous and happily shared anything he had with others. He was first to respond when someone needed comfort and he would stand next to them patting them on the back and looking concerned. He learned quickly how to be reverent and reminded family members when it was time to say prayer. He would hold out his hand and demand prayers over meals and stayed calm and quiet throughout. He loved participating in family scripture study and would read a verse in his baby talk just to join in.
Mach made an incredible impact in his two short years of life on this earth. He came into this world fast and left this world fast... "Mach speed." The love and light that he shared will last through eternity and brought many closer to God.
Mach is deeply missed and forever loved by his parents, Tommy and Rebekah Cooley; his siblings, Tesla Nicole (11), Elona Reeve (8), John Kepler (6), and Manya Marie (4); his grandparents, aunts and uncles, and many cousins, extended family members, and friends who love him dearly. We look forward to being reunited again someday, and trust in the promise that families can be together forever through Heavenly Father's plan. We know he is enjoying the love of other family members who preceded him in death and he is safe in the care of his Savior, Jesus Christ.
A Celebration of Life will be held on June 13, 2026 at 11:00am at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Granite Falls, WA. No need to wear black, Mach would want you to be happy and comfortable, so come as you are! A GoFundMe (“In Memory of Mach Cooley”) has been established to support Mach's family during this time.
