Kirsten Marie John passed away on August 11, 2022. Kirsten was born on June 27, 1972 at St. Mary’s hospital in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Cheryl Joy and Richard Alan Hanson and that is where she spent her formative years. She graduated from the Milwaukee School of Engineering with a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering. She was one smart cookie!
Kirsten joined AT&T straight out of college. It was her first job and she was thrilled that someone wanted to hire her. She started her career out of the Ohio/Pennsylvania region as a switch technician. She quickly advanced and moved to a role in Radio Access Network Engineering eventually going on to manage a team of 12 Network Support Engineers. In 2007 she relocated to the Chicago area for a promotion to manage the E911 Engineering team for the Central Region.
While living in Chicago she met her future husband, Joshua. They were married on October 10, 2010 on a beautiful fall day surrounded by friends and family.
Some of her happiest years were spent living in the Seattle area with Joshua, first in Bothell and then, later, in Lake Stevens in a home that she designed and built with Joshua. Shortly after moving to Seattle, she discovered that her step-brother, Jim Vogtsberger Jr., lived in the area and was extremely happy to reconnect with him, his wife Christiana, and their children.
Kirsten had a generous heart and spirit. She loved Jesus, her family, her friends and possibly most of all her dogs, Bubbles and Zooka. Proceeding Kirsten in death were her mother, father, step-father Jim Vogtsberger, and husband Joshua John. She is survived by her half-sister Suzanne Hanson, step-brother Jim Vogtsberger Jr. (Christiana), step-sister Christine Menigoz, step-father Jack Dyvig, her uncles Jeff Moran (Betsy) and Bill Moran (Juli), and her many cousins, nieces and nephews, in-laws and friends.
A celebration of Kirsten’s life will has been scheduled for October 15th at 11:00 a.m. at the Grove Church, 4705 Grove St. Marysville, WA.
