1923 - 2013 Lorene Hazel (Koplitz) Burman died in her sleep during the early morning hours of December 23, 2013 at the Young at Heart family group home, Marysville, Washington. Lorene was born on February 6, 1923 on the family farm in Marysville, the first child of Albert Frank and Olive May (Hickok) Koplitz. Her mother, Olive, was one of 20 students making up the 11th class graduating from Marysville High School, in 1918. Hickok Road and Hickok Park, in Marysville, are named after her family. Lorene lived on a number of farms, one of them being where the Marysville YMCA is now located. After graduating herself from Marysville High School, she became a teller for Peoples Bank in Everett, where she was affectionately known as "Kopy," working there until her retirement in 1985. It was at the bank that she met her future husband, George M. Burman, originally from Brandon, Manitoba, Canada, and they were married in Everett, on May 1, 1948. They lived in an apartment not far from the bank until they built a home in north Everett in 1952. Around 1993 she moved back to Marysville, the two of them living at the Glennwood Mobile Estates until George suffered a stroke in 2008 and died later that year. After that she lived in different locations, eventually ending up at Young at Heart. Lorene is survived by her two children, Dennis (Chris) Burman, of Marysville, and Robert (Alice) Burman, of Granite Falls, and by her two grandchildren, Douglas Burman, of Marysville, and Nancianne Burman, of Everett. She is also survived by her brother-in-law, Don Hendrickson, of Marysville, several of George's brothers and sister, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, and by her three siblings, Marian Hendrickson, Kenneth Koplitz, and Glenn Koplitz. Lorene was well known for her hobby of stitchery, practiced over decades. Several of her creations were given to many family members, relatives, and friends. She loved playing bingo, Wii bowling, reading, and music. There will be no funeral services. Donations should be made to the charity of your choice . We wish to express our heartfelt thanks and gratitude to Misty and John Marz of Young at Heart who gave exceptional care and love to Lorene. - See more at: http://www.legacy.com/obituaries/heraldnet/obituary.aspx?n=lorene-hazel-burman-koplitz&pid=168888191&fhid=2242#sthash.XbFFZt7t.dpuf
