

Mary Louise Monohan Pope passed away peacefully March 19, 2014, in Tulalip, Washington at the age of 79years. She was born to Leslie K. Monahan and Florence Stella Monahan in Seattle, Washington on April 26, 1934.
Mary was a member of the LDS church, graduated from BYU with a degree in Education, and went on to teach for more than 40 years, 25 of which were in the South Pacific (Tonga). She enjoyed fishing, collecting old movies, reading novels, and working on puzzles. On Oct. 21, 1961, Mary married Albert Pope in Nukualofa, Tonga and was then later solemnized in marriage at the Los Angeles Temple.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Peter Pope; and her best friend, Tupou Pulu.
She will be greatly missed by her husband Albert; their children, Lisa Hafoka (Atieli), Saia Pope (Luisa), Michael Gallogly (Vineta), and David Pope; her cousins, Jackie Mortenson and Lupe Pulu; 13 grandchildren; and 7 great grandchildren.
Visitation is planned for 3 p.m. Saturday, March 22, 2014; and her funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Monday, March 24, 2014; both at Schaefer-Shipman Funeral Home., Marysville, WA
