Peggy Josephine Sherman passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side. She was 87 years of age and is finally reunited with her Lover. They are having the time of their life up in heaven. She was born on March 17, 1929 to Dorothy and Albert Voss in Lisbon, North Dakota.
Peggy spent her younger years growing up in the Everett area and northern California. While visiting her girlfriend at The Dutch Bakery, Peggy met the love of her life. She always said “in walked this big tall handsome hunk, Hank Sherman.” Peggy and Hank’s first date was with their best friends, Howard and Laferne Lian, golfing at Cedarcrest Golf Course. They were married for 64 years. 56 of those wonderful years were spent in the home they built together in Marysville raising their four children.
Peggy was a loving stay-at-home mother to four children for many years. As the kids grew older she went to work for the Marysville School District where she was the cook for many students and teachers at several schools, and boy did they love her cinnamon rolls. She was very proud of her job and that she was able to buy a swimming pool for the family with the money she earned. The pool was great fun for family gatherings, their friends and especially the grand kids. After she and Hank retired they opened P&H Nursery at their home in Marysville. They were a natural at growing beautiful flowers and planting pots for all their customers, friends and family.
Camping was a favorite past time when the kids were younger. The family camped all over the PNW and Canada, including favorite spots such as Lake Okanogan, B.C., Lake Perrigan and Honeyman State Park in Oregon. Peggy and Hank loved to travel up and down the west coast, Hawaii and went on several cruises to the Panama Canal, Alaska and the Caribbean. Peggy and Hank were Husky season ticket holders for 43 years. They loved taking their kids and grandkids to the game, tailgating with friends and family or traveling to many away games including two Rosebowl’s.
Peggy is preceded in death by her Lover Hank Sherman; her father Albert Voss; step-father and mother Gene and Dorothy Hathaway; father-in-law and mother-in-law Earl and Harriet Sherman; brother and sister in-laws; Earl Sherman, Harold and Bernice Sherman, Alvin and Roberta Sherman and Basil Trout.
Peggy is survived by her children Sue (Bruce) Udman, Nancy (Mike) Holiman, Vickie (Brian) Melseth and Allen (fiancé Lynette Evans) Sherman, grandchildren Toby (Neva Geithman) Udman, Tiffany (Dean Schneekloth) Udman, Linsy and Craig Holiman, Chase and Brittany Melseth, Ashley (Cameron) Fowler, Derrick and Lacy Sherman, Dalton and Dylan Evans, Brandon and Serita Schaut, great-grandchildren Madison and Amanda Udman, Eva and Henry Schneekloth, Brody Fowler and Isaac and Marissa Schaut, sister-in-law’s Susie Sherman and Harriett Trout.
A celebration of her life will be held on July 1, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at Schaefer-Shipman Funeral Home in Marysville, WA.
