After high school he attended Everett Community College before being drafted into the U.S. Army and serving in Korea from 1951-53. He then enrolled at Pacific Lutheran University, where he graduated with a degree in chemistry in 1957. He also earned a B.A. in education from Western Washington University in 1959 and a masters in education in 1962. Bob worked as an educator in the Everett School District for 30 years. He began as a sixth grade teacher at the original Monroe School in northeast Everett, then served as principal until the school closed as a result of damage in the 1965 earthquake. He then served as vice-principal of Evergreen Junior High, and as principal at several elementary schools, including View Ridge, Jefferson, Silver Lake, Monroe, and Jackson. Bob enjoyed travel, especially trips to Maine, England, and Norway. At home, he loved walking the beach. He was a long-time fan and loyal spectator of Marysville high school athletics, as well as PLU football. Bob was a faithful member of the Marysville YMCA and worked out there regularly. He enjoyed meeting up with old and new friends for morning coffee at Haggens in Marysville. Bob was a member of the Marysville Historical Society and enjoyed participating in the development of the new museum. Bob is survived by his wife of 56 years, Anne, and his two daughters Kristin Timm (Rod Reed) and Gretchen Timm (Todd Mindermann). For the last nine years, Bob was overjoyed to be the grandfather of Eva, Hans, and Erik Mindermann. Also surviving are his niece, Kristy St. Clair (Phil) and stepbrother, Hal Martin (Marlys). Bob’s parents, Elva Martin and Paul Timm, and his brother, Paul Timm preceded him in death.
