Mike was born in Seattle, Washington, on February 5th, 1947 to William I. Murphy and Ruth Jesse. He was a resident of Marysville, Washington, at his time of passing.
Mike was married to Karen Ann Murphy, who passed away in 2017. They had a strong and loving relationship. You would often find them on the dance floor at any party.
Mike enjoyed being near the water and spending time with his wife and their dogs. Mike started his own general contracting business in the early 80's. He built a customized home for his family on Lake Stevens. For years, the Murphy's hosted parties at their lake house. The Murphy's always had a fridge stocked full of beverages, extra swimwear, and even sunglasses ready for their guests. They were gracious hosts and welcomed everyone.
In the early 1990's Mike and Karen purchased a boat. They became members of The Everett Yacht Club and made several life long friends. They spent their summers up at the San Juan Islands.
Mike was a man of few words, so when he spoke, you listened. He was a dedicated husband, brother, friend, father, and grandfather. When you got him to laugh, it was so fulfilling.
He is survived by his brother, Dan Murphy and his wife Julie Murphy, stepdaughter, Heather Chase and her husband David, his daughter Krystene Barnes, and his grandchildren, Trevor, Jordan, Carrie, Logan, Taylor, and Maddie. Mike also has several great grandchildren now, that he was lucky enough to meet and spend time with.
Mike will be greatly missed. Those who knew him were lucky to do so. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his memory to the no-kill Humane Society, c/o 8304 Wayne Ave, Stanwood, Washington, 98292 www.dogscats.org
