
Carmela Cotroneo, a beloved mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully on May 2, 2025, at the age of 92. Born in New York City, she lived in Brooklyn before settling in Massapequa, NY. She was predeceased by her cherished husband, Antonio, and is now reunited with him in eternal peace.
Carmela was a devoted mother to Patricia, Joseph, and Anthony, and a loving grandmother to Christopher and James Roth. Her family was her heart, and she was renowned for bringing them together with her glorious meals, especially during the holidays. Her kitchen was a place of warmth, filled with the aromas of her legendary cooking, and her wisdom and advice were treasures to all who sought her counsel.
A vibrant spirit, Carmela loved dancing, playing poker, and taking bus trips to Atlantic City and Mohegan Sun for days of fun at the casinos. As president of the Starting Over group at St. Rose of Lima Church, she was a pillar of her community, offering support and kindness to those in need.
Carmela’s legacy is one of love, family, and joy. A Funeral Mass will be held at Maria Regina Church in Seaford, NY, on Thursday, May 8, 2025, at 10:45 AM, followed by interment at St. Charles Cemetery in Farmingdale, NY, where she will rest eternally with her beloved Antonio.
She will be deeply missed by her family and all who knew her radiant spirit.
