

CHARLES V. FEENEY, 89 of Amityville, New York. Passed away peacefully on March 17, 2014. A proud WWII Navy veteran and longtime resident of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where he worked as a sportswriter covering the Pittsburgh Pirates for the Pittsburgh Post Gazette. Prior to that he covered the New York Giants, Yankees and Football Giants for the Long Island Star-Journal, Long Island Press, and New York Journal American. "PALLY" as he was affectionately called by all who knew him, was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame Media Wing in 1997. He was predeceased by his beloved spouse of 50 years Bea. Loving brother to Arthur (Janet), and sister Marie Cronin. Beloved uncle to nephew Kevin S. Feeney, Melissa Feeney-Hughes (Brian), Noreen Chasan, (David), Laura Congemi, Patricia Cronin and Kathleen Phillips. Charles enjoyed sports, horse racking, socializing with friends. He belonged to the VFW and also a former president of the baseball writers association of America.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday ~ Calling hours are 2:00 to 4:30 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:30 p.m. ~ Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday at 10:15 a.m. with St. James RC Church, 75 Seamans Neck Road, Seaford, New York 11783 ~ Cremation Private ~
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in memory of Charles V. Feeney to St. Judes' Research Hospital.
Family and friends are welcome to James Funeral Home on Thursday at 9:15 a.m. before leaving for the funeral mass.
