

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Cora M. Lanyo, 78, of Massapequa, NY, on January 8, 2025. Born in Bari, Italy, to the late Leonard and Isabelle Scivetti, Cora was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Cora was predeceased by her beloved husband, Leonard Lanyo. She is survived by her children: John (Dana), Ann Marie (Mike), Leonard (Lisa), Elizabeth, and Justin, along with her six cherished grandchildren, who were the light of her life. Cora is also survived by her loving siblings, brothers-in-law, nieces, and nephews, all of whom held a special place in her heart.
Cora was a woman of warmth and kindness. She adored spending time with her family and friends, and nothing brought her more joy than being surrounded by the people she loved. Cora’s love for her kids and grandkids was immeasurable, and she was a constant source of support, guidance, and unconditional love. She also shared a special bond with her furry grandson and best friend, Wally, who brought her immense happiness in her later years. In her free time, Cora enjoyed walking, cooking, and making cherished memories with those closest to her.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 12, 2025, from 2:00-4:00 pm and 7:00-9:00 pm at James Funeral Home, 540 Broadway, Massapequa, NY. A Funeral Mass will take place on Monday, January 13, 2025, at 9:30 am at St. William the Abbot Roman Catholic Church in Seaford. Interment will follow at St. Charles Cemetery in East Farmingdale, NY.
Cora’s legacy of love and devotion will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her.
