Daniel J. Delaney Jr.

Born on April 22, 1949, in Brooklyn, New York, Daniel was the cherished son of Daniel J. Delaney Sr. and Rita Agatha Sheenan. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War from 1968 to 1974.

Daniel devoted his career to the N.Y. Daily News, where he rose to the position of Pressroom Foreman, earning respect for his leadership, skill, and unwavering dedication. He was also an active member of the NY Pressmen’s Union Local 2, reflecting his commitment to his craft and community.

For 53 wonderful years, Daniel shared his life with his beloved wife, Jacqueline P. Delaney. Together, they built a family filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. He was the proud father of Collen & Jonathan Valentin and Daniel & Karen Delaney, and a doting grandfather to Bernadette, Daniel V, Donovan, Rosalie, and Penelope. Daniel also treasured his role as a loving uncle to Jon Alvy and was a cherished brother to Rita Delaney La Forgia.

A man of stories and adventure, Daniel loved reading, kayaking, and sharing tales that captivated the imagination. His home was brightened by his four beloved pets: Guinness, Murphy, Finnegan, and Pebbles, who brought him endless joy.

Daniel’s warmth, generosity, and humor left an indelible mark on everyone fortunate enough to know him. He will be remembered not only for his professional achievements and service but for the love, guidance, and laughter he shared with family and friends.

A life well-lived, a story well-told—Daniel will be deeply missed and forever cherished.

Visitation will be held at James Funeral Home, 540 Broadway, Massapequa, NY 11758, US, on May 7, 2026, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm, and again on May 7, 2026, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

A Funeral Mass will be held at St. James' Catholic Church, 80 Hicksville Rd, Seaford, NY 11783, US, on May 8, 2026, from 10:30 am to 11:30 am.

Entombment will take place at Pinelawn Memorial Park and Arboretum, 2030 Wellwood Ave, Farmingdale, NY 11735, US, on May 8, 2026, from 12:15 pm to 12:45 pm.
