A native New Yorker, Eddie was born in the Bronx and raised in Queens. His mother, Marion Jones, was a Native New Yorker, and his father Edward Carriere, was a French Canadian. From a young age, he loved helping family and neighbors with their household construction projects. When he was a young man, his father purchased land in La Minerve, Quebec and the two began building a house together. It was Eddie’s father’s dream to spend his summers in that house with his wife and grandchildren.
Though Eddie’s father passed before the house was finished, years later Eddie completed his father’s dream of having a house by the lake and spent his own summers there.
Eddie loved fixing up cars, driving sports cars, loud music, scouting garage sales for broken things to fix, and tinkering around in his workshop and garage. He went after the things he wanted in life, joining the notoriously competitive electrician’s union in NYC and courting his wife after only seeing her one time on the subway. He dedicated his life to his work and taking care of his family. He spent his career working on countless commercial buildings in NYC and Long Island and a lot of his free time fixing the vehicles and homes of his family, friends, and neighbors. He believed in putting nothing off and the value of a job expertly done.
Recently retired, he was spending his time with his wife and family and fixing up his daughter’s first house. He passed in a place he loved while he was enjoying life with the person he loved. Eddie is survived by his wife Louise; his daughters Christine and Lori Ann; his son-in-law Mike; and his sisters Denise and Corrine.
