

Evelyn R. Ankner, a kind-hearted and humorous woman, whose laughter and compassion touched everyone she met, passed away on November 5, 2025, at the age of 81. Born on January 15, 1944, she was the daughter of Ralph and Miriam Lerner and the sister of Francine Stein. Predeceased by her beloved husband and veteran, Robert, Evelyn was a devoted mother to Janice Sindone and Michael, and a cherished grandmother to Jayden and Corin Ankner.
Evelyn will be united forever with her beloved Robert at the Calverton National Cemetery. Her family finds comfort in knowing they will be together again, where their love endures eternally.
Evelyn's compassionate spirit shone through her many interests and hobbies. She loved to dance, listen to music, and spend quality time with family and friends. Weekends were filled with vibrant memories as she and Robert walked along the Long Beach boardwalk. Their excitement culminated annually with a cherished outing to the U.S. Open.
A visitation in celebration of Evelyn’s life will be held at the James Funeral Home, located at 540 Broadway, Massapequa, NY 11758, on November 9, 2025. Friends and family are invited to attend between 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m., as well as from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The interment will take place at Calverton National Cemetery on November 10, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
The Ankner family extends their heartfelt gratitude to everyone for their sympathy and support during this time. Evelyn will truly be missed by all who had the privilege to know her. Her legacy of joy and kindness will forever be cherished in our hearts.
