Jack Durando

Born in Brooklyn, New York, on June 22, 1934, Jack was the beloved son of Harry Durando and Helen Riddle. Proud of his Brooklyn roots, he carried with him a lifelong love of family, community, and the teams that defined his hometown.

Jack honorably served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. His service reflected the quiet strength, dedication, and sense of duty that would guide him throughout his life.

For 64 wonderful years, Jack was the devoted husband of his beloved wife, Rose Durando (née Cipriani). Together they built a loving family that was the center of his life. He was the cherished father of John (Donna), Patrick, and Nicole (the late James). He was a proud and loving grandfather to Kimberly, Grace, Jake, Kate, Jack, and Abby, each of whom brought him immeasurable joy.

Jack is survived by his sisters, Catherine and Linda. He was predeceased by his siblings Jean, Helen, Harry, Mary, Thomas, Patricia, and James.

Jack found happiness in life's simple pleasures. He was a lifelong fan of the Brooklyn Dodgers and the New York Giants and later cheered on the New York Mets with unwavering loyalty. He also took great pride in tending to his tomato plants, finding peace and satisfaction in watching them grow each season.

Above all, Jack will be remembered for his love of family, his steadfast character, and the countless memories he created with those who knew him. His kindness, quiet wisdom, and enduring presence will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all whose lives he touched.

Visitation will be held at James Funeral Home, 540 Broadway, Massapequa, NY 11758, US, on July 20, 2026, from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm, and again from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm.

A Funeral Mass will take place at Maria Regina Roman Catholic Church, 3945 Jerusalem Ave, Seaford, NY 11783, US, on July 21, 2026, from 9:45 am to 10:45 am.

Burial will follow at Calverton National Cemetery, 210 Princeton Blvd, Calverton, NY 11933, US, on July 21, 2026, from 12:00 pm to 12:30 pm.
