

John Ramon Perez was a resident of North Massapequa, NY, by way of Ponce, Puerto Rico and Brooklyn, NY. He leaves behind a legacy of humility, patience, humor, and Unconditional Love.
John was a beloved father to his sons, Jon and Nicholas, and cherished his wife of 55 years, the Love of his Life, Frances. He was also a beloved grandfather to Cosmo and Damian, and a father figure to many in his extended family.
Known for his love of sports, he was an avid fan of the NY Jets, NY Mets, as well as the Brooklyn Dodgers. He also had a love for soccer, whether watching the World Cup, or coaching youth teams. Favorite movies included a Fish Called Wanda and Beetlejuice, and he loved the comedy of Richard Pryor. He was an avid music lover who enjoyed the 50’s and 60’s rock music of his youth, as well as Motown, Frank Sinatra to…and Biz Markie’s, “Just a Friend”.
He was a true American Hero who, inspired by President Kennedy to do for his country, served in the US Air Force, followed by a long career working for US Customs at JFK Airport, retiring as the highest ranking Hispanic in the Department at the time. He opened a lot of doors for many people, and had a deep love of country.
His humility and sharp humor, as well as his countless stories of the famous people he knew while working at JFK airport brought joy to any gathering he was a part of. Beyond that, his profound passion and Love for his family will resonate into eternity, as will his shared wisdom, and his leadership by example.
An interment will take place at Calverton National Cemetery, located in Wading River, NY, on November 18, 2025, from 2:00 pm to 2:30 pm.
