MARILYNN J. MCDERMOTT, 76, passed away peacefully on November 19, 2014. She was a strong caring women who cherished her husband, family and friends. She will be missed but, remain forever in the hearts of those she loved. Her husband, John "Mickey" McDermott was her life time partner and best friend of 57 years.
She leaves behind her husband, "Mickey", her son John McDermott Jr. and his partner Lisa DeStefano. Her daughters Lynn McDermott and her partner Connie Demars, and Donna Jones and her husband Kenny Jones. Her grandchildren, Jessica McDermott, Andrew McDermott, Marissa Jones, Samantha Jones, Katelynn McDermott and John McDermott III. She adored her nieces, nephews, and extend family. She was preceded in death by her parents, John B. Lunbeck, Dorothy M. "Birney" Lunbeck and sister Joyce B. Hogan.
Marilynn was a spiritual women who was known for her generosity. She spent her life caring for others, coaching soccer and traveling around the world. She loved the ocean and spent countless hours boating the local waters. She earned her wings as she was an inspiration to everyone she touch.
A mass will be held at St. Rose of Lima RCC, on Saturday, November 22, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. with interment to follow. A reception will take place at Paddy's Loft, 1286 Hicksville Road, Massapequa from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers Marilynn requested donations to be made in her memory to the Covenant House, 5 Penn Plaza, New York New York 10001

Funeral mass will be held on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at St. Rose of Lima RC Church, 2 Bayview Avenue, Massapequa, New York 11758 ~ Interment to follow to St. Charles Cemetery, Wellwood Avenue, Farmingdale, New York
