

Salvatore V Martorana, 97, passed away on June 12, 2026, leaving behind a lifetime of memories, love, and kindness that will be cherished by all who knew him. Born on February 2, 1929, in Brooklyn, Salvatore built a beautiful life centered around family, creativity, faith, and friendship. He will be remembered with deep respect for the steady grace of his presence and the quiet generosity he extended to others.
Sal was the beloved husband of Marie Martorana, with whom he shared 67 wonderful years of marriage. Together, they raised their daughter, Carol, and created a home marked by devotion and enduring love. Sal and Marie spent 32 years living in Farmingdale, Long Island, before retiring to Spring Hill, Florida, where they enjoyed 25 years together. After the loss of his wife, Sal moved to Madison, New Jersey, where he lived near his daughter Carol, who lovingly cared for him.
Sal served in the United States Air force for two years prior to his career as a photo engraver. A talented and creative man, Sal found lasting joy in painting and drawing. His appreciation for life’s simple pleasures was evident in his love of playing golf, dancing, and spending time with the people and animals he loved. His beloved poodle, Gidget, and grand-dog, Ellie, brought him great comfort and happiness.
Sal was a member of The Old Guard and St. Vincent Martyr Church, through which he volunteered for soup kitchen and served as a Eucharistic Minister. This provided him with a sense of community, fellowship, and service.
Sal is survived by his loving daughter, Carol Martorana; his daughter-in-law, Diane Salvatore; his sister, Phyllis Scali; his nieces and nephews; Diane and Nick DeRosa, Anthony Scali, Danielle and Tony Reilly, Jonathan Maggio and their children and grandchildren and many other family members and friends who will forever remember his warmth and gentle spirit. His legacy will live on through the memories he created, the art he shared, and the love he gave so freely.
Visitation will be held at James Funeral Home, 540 Broadway, Massapequa, NY 11758, on June 17, 2026, from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Kilian Parish, 485 Conklin St, Farmingdale, NY 11735, on June 18, 2026, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm. Entombment will follow at St. Charles / Resurrection Cemeteries, 2015 Wellwood Ave, Farmingdale, NY 11735.
