October 21, 1958 – August 22, 2023
Thomas Basil was born in Pt. Jefferson, NY on October 21, 1958. His family moved to Massapequa a couple of years later. Tom attended St. Rose of Lima school through 8th grade, then transferred to St. John’s and spent his senior year at Massapequa High School. Some of his favorite childhood memories included his time serving as an Alter boy at St. Rose of Lima and the experience of being a water boy for the NY Jets. He went on to study computer science at the University of South Florida in Tampa, Florida, where he met his wife, Ruth.
Tom had an adventurous spirit and loved to travel. He loved the outdoors as well. His favorite hobbies were scuba diving, skiing, and golfing. When he was resting at home, you could always find him watching TV in his recliner with his dog Milo.
He is survived by his wife and three beloved children: Ryan, Lauren, and Alyssa. He loved and cherished his family above all else and was selfless in his love. He is also survived by 5 of his 7 siblings: Barbara, Harry, Mary-Ann, Danny, and Michael. He will be missed by his many friends and family members.
Let us find solace in the knowledge that his spirit will forever guide and encourage us to embrace life with the same love, enthusiasm, and adventurous spirit that defined him.
