Domenico "Dino" Santarelli

Passed away on March 18, 2020

DOMENIC “Dino” SANTARELLI passed away peacefully on March 18, 2020. He is survived by his wife Nancy (nee Campana) who lovingly cared for him. Cherished father of daughters Maria Paul (Tom) and Terry Velliky (Jim). Devoted grandfather “Papa” to Christiana and Mateo Paul, Johnny and Jimmy Velliky. Domenic was born in Santa Croce di Magliano, Italy and immigrated to Montreal, with his late parents Antonio and Maria (nee Bucci) and his brother Pasquale (Yolanda) both deceased. After marrying the love of his life, Nancy, they raised their family in Chesterland where he was a parishioner of Saint Anselm Catholic Church. Domenic worked for 40 years at Alesci’s of South Euclid. Domenic’s true joy was spending time with his grandchildren. As their proud Papa, he adored them deeply. Although he was an avid Cleveland sports fan, he excitedly cheered for his favorite Italian soccer team, Inter Milan. Domenic also enjoyed gardening with Nancy. He was most content creating memories with Nancy as they shared their home, meals and laughter with loved ones. Most of all, Domenic will be remembered as an endearing husband, caring father, compassionate grandfather and kind-hearted friend. His unconditional love and giving nature will be greatly missed! On March 20, 2020 the family held a private family visitation, Catholic Mass and Entombment at Western Reserve Memorial Gardens. A memorial mass and celebration of Domenic’s life will be forthcoming. A sincere thank you to University Hospital Geauga Campus, the Giant Eagle Chesterland pharmacy team, and for the support and prayers from family and friends. “Today, tomorrow and always.”

Dear Papa,
Thank you for being such a kind, generous, and faithful grandfather! You were always there for your family, no matter what the circumstance. I remember during the summers how you would sit on the porch, cheering for your grandchildren as we would play in your beautiful "Santarelli Park". Another fond memory I will forever hold in my heart is helping Nonna and you water your amazing vegetable and flower gardens. I will never forget when you would sneak cookies and sweets for us, filling our days with laughter when we were together! Thank you for supporting everyone, sharing your wisdom and teaching us to do what we love in life. We are so blessed to have such a special angel watching over us in heaven! (Have fun with your heavenly family and friends.) "Today, tomorrow and always."

Sweet Papa,
I will be forever grateful for the wonderful life and cherished memories Mammina and you created for our family! Your steadfast love, faith, commitment to family, strong work ethic and heart of gold is a legacy to emulate! Hearing from the many people you assisted in your lifetime, a reoccurring comment is that you were such a “nice gentleman.” Now, I am the one beaming proudly because your kindness touched so many lives! We are all blessed to have had a nurturing Papa demonstrating strength and courage. Your life will continue to inspire us to move forward in good times and in the face of adversity while being mindful of lessons learned along the way. Raising our children, your grandchildren, Tommy and I are truly appreciative that Mom and you exemplified unconditional love every day. I know that you are flying high with angel wings into the loving arms of Jesus! (Please save me a Bocce Ball game, or two!)
Ti Amo Tanto, Papa Bello!!
With endless love and gratitude,
Maria XOXO
