Dr. Vlad Rus was a man of great knowledge, experience and kindness, a true gentleman.
He was a genuinely wonderful man, full of optimism and good advice.
He was an esteemed professor of Political Science, Russian language and Literature, and Eastern European History at both Case Western Reserve University and Cleveland State University. He served as a Cuyahoga Community College Administrator for many years.
Dr. Rus directed Human Resources and Economic Development for the city of Cleveland in Mayor Perk’s cabinet.
Vlado also advised Ohio Governor and later Senator George Voinovich.
Though born in Fiume, Italy in 1925 Vlad loved his Slovenian heritage and cherished his family: Thea, his wife, son Vlad (Dorcas), daughters Elizabeth (Tony), Jacquelyn (Darrin) and Julee (Milo) and four grandchildren Aurelia, Victoria, Cecily and Christopher.
