Charles Nelson Slater

Charles N. Slater, 80, of Maysville died Wednesday, September 18, 2013 at the UK Medical Center in Lexington. He was born in Maysville, KY on May 27, 1933 the son of the late Susie Slater and Hal Hord. Mr. Slater retired from the US Postal Services having served as a mail carrier for the Maysville Post Office. He served in the US Army and was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church where he served faithfully for many years as a member of the Deacon Board. Survivors include his wife, Bonnie Jones Slater; one son, Charles N. Slater, Jr. and one daughter, Tina Slater both of California; one brother, David Hord of PA; two sisters, Brenda Malone of Louisville, KY and Frances Combs of Maysville, KY; his stepson, Anthony Mayberry and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, three sisters and one brother. Funeral services for Charles N. Slater will be held at the Bethel Baptist Church at 1:00 PM Tuesday, September 24, 2013 with Pastor Christopher Lee and Pastor John Reece officiating. Burial will be in the Washington Baptist Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church on Tuesday from 11 AM until the hour of the service.
