

Maysville - Edith Glenn McConnell Manley, 97, of Maysville, Kentucky died Thursday, August 3, 2017 at the Care Center at Kenton Pointe. She was the widow of Richard “Dick” Holton Manley. Mrs. Manley was a member of the First Christian Church of Maysville and a 1938 graduate of the Deming High School. She was employed at the Lucky Stride Shoe Company for many years until it closed and then attended and graduated from the Maysville Beauty School, received her Beautician license and opened her beauty shop on Wood Street. Edith enjoyed her church and the many people and friends that she had there. She was an Elder Emeritus of the First Christian Church in Maysville and served her Lord and community in many capacities. She said over and over again how lucky she was to have such good neighbors and that she loved each and every one of them. She was born in Robertson County, Kentucky on December 28, 1919 the daughter of the late Earl and Nell Bradley McConnell. She leaves behind her daughter and son-in-law, Patricia Manley Glenn (Russell Glenn) of Maysville, KY; three grandchildren, Karen Glenn, Rick Glenn and Jay Glenn (Dee); three great-granddaughters, Brandy Beamer-Perry (Anthony), Laura Beamer-Schweitzer (Justin) and Jessi E. Little; three great-great-grandsons, Cole Michael McGuoirk, Cade Allen McGuoirk and Andy Perry and two brothers, Ivan McConnell and Lyle McConnell and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Besides her husband and her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandson, Michael Glenn and three brothers, Maurice Burns, Emmitt McConnell and Lannis McConnell. Funeral services for Edith Manley will be held at the First Christian Church of Maysville at 12:00 PM Tuesday, August 8, 2017 with Rev. David Massey-Brown officiating. Burial will be in the May’s Lick Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ronnie McConnell, James Michael McConnell, Lanny McConnell, Jason Johnson, Tony McConnell and Gerald Burns. Honorary pallbearers will be Lee Collins and Wayman Tilton. Visitation will be held at the church on Tuesday from 11:00 AM until the hour of the service. Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church, 18 East Third Street, Maysville, KY 41056. The arrangements are entrusted to the Knox and Brothers Funeral Home.
