Edward Allen “Ned” Tolle, 87, of Maysville, Kentucky passed away Thursday, March 2, 2017 at the Hospice of Hope Care Center at Kenton Pointe. He was born on May 1, 1929, near Lewisburg on Cahill Road, the son of the late Gus Lynn and Iva Carpenter Tolle. He married Iona Staker, who died December 27, 1987.
Edward A. “Ned” Tolle was a veteran of the US Army, having served in Korea. He worked at J.C. Everett Company as a delivery and sales person after his return from the military. He also served as a Mason County Deputy Sheriff under Sheriff’s Lloyd L. “Bus” Hitt and Austin Wenz, before being elected Mason County Circuit Clerk in 1963. Taking office January 1, 1964, he held this position for thirty-seven years until January 1, 2001, when his son, Edward Kirk Tolle, was elected to the office. As Circuit Court Clerk, he served as President of the Kentucky Association of Circuit Clerks and was chairman of the Legislative and Education Committees many times. Ned loved serving the citizens of Mason County as Circuit Court Clerk.
Mr. Tolle was a longtime and faithful member of Maysville Trinity United Methodist Church. He was also a member of the Ringgold Odd Fellows lodge and a former member of the Jaycees.
Surviving are his son, Edward Kirk Tolle; brothers, William “Bill” Tolle and wife, Ruth, Donald “Don” Tolle and wife, Jeanette, Jerry Tolle and wife, Linda all of Maysville, KY, Frank Tolle and wife, Sue of Paris, KY and Ronald “Ronnie” Tolle and wife, Judy of Vanceburg, KY; sisters, Allene Parker of Maysville, KY and Virginia “Ginny” Rottinghaus and husband, Charles of Cincinnati, OH and numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides his wife and parents, preceding him in death were brothers, Milton Tolle, Duane Tolle and Emerson Tolle and sisters, Bonnie Jean Perraut and Rebecca “Becky” Calvert.
Memorial services for Edward A. “Ned” Tolle will be held at the Maysville Trinity United Methodist Church at 4:00 PM Sunday, March 5, 2017 with Pastor Susan Jinnett-Sack officiating. The interment will be private. There will be no visitation held prior to the service.
The family requests that memorials be made to the Trinity United Methodist Church, 26 West Third Street, Maysville, KY 41056.
