Fred Bowkamp, Jr., 76, died Thursday, July 26, 2012 at the Meadowview Regional Medical Center. Mr. Bowkamp retired from Emerson Power Transmission after 35 years of service and was a veteran having served in the US Army. Mr. Bowkamp was a member of the Maysville Church of the Nazarene where he formerly taught Sunday School. He was born in Humbolt, Tennessee on August 27, 1935 the son of the late Fred and Lillie Simmons Bowkamp. He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Ruth Heddleston Bowkamp; two sons and their wives, David and Heidi Breslin Bowkamp of Lexington and Robbie and Latona Lowe Bowkamp of Springfield, Ohio and four grandchildren, Matthew Bowkamp, Christy Bowkamp, Josh Bowkamp and Shelby Bowkamp. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife of forty-four years, Patricia Dawn Rosser Bowkamp. Funeral services for Fred Bowkamp will be held at the Maysville Church of the Nazarene on Monday, July 30, 2012 at 10:00 AM. Pallbearers will be Jim McCann, Terry Barrett, Carl McCormick, Larry Napier, James Rawlings and Herman Ward. Burial will be in the Washington Baptist Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Knox and Brothers Funeral Home on Sunday from 6 to 8 PM. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the Maysville Church of the Nazarene.
