George Kelly Ashley

George Kelly Ashley, 85, of Maysville, Kentucky passed away January 31, 2016 at Meadowview Regional Medical Center. Mr. Ashley was born in Fairmont, North Carolina on September 23, 1930 the son of the late Wade C. and Myrtle Perry Ashley. He was a graduate of Fairmont High School, a veteran of the US Army, a member of the Saint Patrick Church and worked for forty-seven years for the American Tobacco Company as a Leaf Buying Supervisor. George was preceded in death by the love of his life, Charlotte O’Neill Ashley whom he married July 11, 1953. He is survived by his three sons, Kelly (Sandy), Brian (Tammie) and Wade (Valerie); grandchildren, Brad (Jen), Adam (Allison), David, Brandon and Flynn; great grandchildren, Cole, Luke, Abigail Charlotte, Eleanore, Patrick and Theodore. He will be sadly missed by many close friends, especially Nancy Brannen, Audrey White and Nicole White. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by six brothers and sisters. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Saint Patrick Church at 5:00 PM, Friday, February 5, 2016 with his nephew, Father Michael Comer as celebrant. Visitation will be held at the church on Friday from 3 to 5 PM. Committal rites will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, February 6, 2016 at the Saint Patrick Cemetery Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the St. Patrick School, 318 Limestone Street, Maysville, KY 41056 and the Knights of Columbus Building Fund, 210 East Third Street, Maysville, KY 41056. The Knox and Brothers Funeral Home is serving the family.
