George Willard Mason

George Willard Mason, 91, of Maysville, Kentucky died Thursday, November 5, 2015 at the Care Center at Kenton Pointe. Mr. Mason was a member of the Hickory Grove Church in Tollesboro, KY and he was a retired construction worker. He was born in Lewis County, Kentucky on July 27, 1924 the son of the late Joseph Arthur Mason and Mary Alice Miller Mason. He is survived by his wife of sixty-four years, Nelma Applegate Mason; one son, Troy Mason (Shari) of Tollesboro, KY; two daughters, Valerie Funk (Bruce) and Vanessa Shoemaker (Clark) both of Maysville, KY; several grandchildren; several great grandchildren and two sisters, Dorothy Hoagland (Don) of Lake Placid, FL and Etna Denekas (Bob) of Rockford, IL. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Willard “Clayton” Mason, one sister, Ruby Ross and four brothers, Arthur Mason, Robert Mason, Walter Mason and Edward Mason. Funeral services for George Mason will be held at the Hickory Grove Church at 1:00 PM Monday, November 9, 2015 with Bro. Charles Emmons and Bro. David Shoemaker officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. Tabor Cemetery in Ribolt. Pallbearers will be Dennis Ginn, Al Bane, Bob Bane, Larry Irwin, Jim McRoberts, George Calvert and Bill Marshall. Visitation will be held at the church on Sunday evening from 5 to 8 PM. The arrangements are under the direction of the Knox and Brothers Funeral Home.
