

George William “Sonnie” Morton, 79, of Maysville died April 6, 2014 at the Maysville Nursing and Rehabilitation Facility. Mr. Morton was longtime employed as a Pipefitter of Local 452 and in his later years was self-employed as a landscaper. He was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witness and was a Veteran having served in the US Army. He was born in Maysville, Kentucky on January 21, 1935 the son of the late George and Elizabeth Clemens Morton but was reared by his grandmother the late Lena R. Brooks. He is survived by his wife of almost sixty years, Wanda Jones Morton and their eight loving children, Dale C. Morton and Yolanda T Morton both of Maysville, KY, Burjetta J. Greene, Avis E. Mims, Lanny P. Morton and Sun S. Morton all of Cincinnati, OH, Jed P. Morton of Nashville, TN and Selena N. Morton of Paramount, CA; eleven beloved grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren and his brother-in-law, Charles G. Jones of Batavia, OH along with a niece, Nephews and numerous of dear friends close to him. Besides his parents and grandmother, he was preceded in death by his brother, James Oliver “Bro” Morton and one grandson, Inden P. Greene. Funeral services for George “Sonnie” Morton will be held at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness, 2371 US 68, Maysville, KY on Friday, April 11, 2014 with Bro. James Sutton officiating. Burial will follow in the Green Acres Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness on Friday from 11 AM until the hour of the service. Following the services Family and Friends are invited to gather at Limestone Center.The arrangements are entrusted to the Knox and Brothers Funeral Home
