George Washington Paul, 81, of Maysville died Monday, May 13, 2013 at his residence. Mr. Paul was born in Harrisburg, PA on December 10, 1931 the son of the late William and Sadie Landess Paul. He and his siblings grew up at the Mooseheart Orphanage in Mooseheart, Illinois and he later served in the US Marine Corps as a radio operator during the Korean War. He earned a mechanical engineering degree from Valparasiso University and served as the maintenance manager at Wald Manufacturing, retiring in 2004 after forty-six years of service. He was a member of the Moose Lodge and a former member of the Maysville Lion’s Club and the Maysville Rotary Club. Survivors include his wife of Fifty-eight years, Merry Andray Bowers Paul; two daughters, Wendy Lynn Schumacher (Jim) of Lexington, KY; Jill Merrian Warren (Tim) of Fountain Inn, SC; a son, Michael Raymond Paul (Beebe) of Winder, GA; seven, grandchildren, Nancy Mooreof (Brian) of Georgetown, KY; Stephanie Taylor (Ryan) of Lexington, KY; Chris Schumacher (Whitney) of London, KY; Cody Warren and Haley Warren of Fountian Inn, SC; Marshal and Maggie Paul of Winder, GA; three great-grandchildren, Kylie and Reese Moore of Georgetown, KY and Abe Taylor of Lexington, KY and two brothers, Lloyd Paul of Springfield, VA and Roy Paul of Illinois. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters. Memorial services for George W. Paul will be held at the Knox and Brothers Funeral Home at 3:00 PM Friday, May 17, 2013 with Rev. Tony Liess officiating.
