

Hazel Lowe, 93, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 2, 2014. She was born on May 7, 1920 the daughter of the late James and Fannie Miller Mason. She was married to Harvey W. Lowe for sixty years until his death on April 20, 2000. Hazel and Harvey lived and farmed in the Murphysville community for many years. She loved the farm and after she moved to Maysville, she loved to talk about the good ole days, living on the farm, raising gardens and her flowers. She was a great cook and had cooked many meals for hired hands on the farm. When she retired from the farm, she retired from the kitchen making her kitchen at Frisch’s every evening. She loved all the people at Frisch’s. Hazel was a stay at home Mom and housewife and she took care of the needs of her family. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother. She loved her family, her friends and her neighbors. Mrs. Lowe was a member of the Shannon United Methodist Church but had attended the May’s Lick Baptist Church with her daughter for the last fourteen years. She leaves behind her daughter, Faye Lowe Barbour of Maysville, KY; two grandchildren, Greg Barbour (Christal) of Maysville, KY and Sherri Barbour Riggs of May’s Lick, KY. Six great grandchildren, Nathan Saunders of Covington, KY, Christa Saunders Henson (Daniel) of Erlanger, KY, Matthew Pollitt, Jennifer Pollitt and James Pollitt all of May’s Lick, KY and Haley Beth Barbour of Maysville, KY; three step-great grandchildren, Jonathon Stafford (Betheny) of Lynchburg, Virginia, Josh Stafford and Katie Stafford of Maysville; one great great grandchild, Tristan Cole Gibbs; one sister, Pauline Jones of Dover, KY and a host of nieces and nephews. Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, Harry James Lowe and John Dale Lowe, one great grandson, Josh Barbour, her son-in-law, Rev. Phillip Barbour, five brothers, Harold Mason, Roscoe Mason, Glenn Mason, Leon Mason and Lowell Mason and three sisters, Hildreth Applegate, Hester Poe and Opal Hill. Funeral services for Hazel Lowe will be held at the May’s Lick Baptist Church at 1 PM Friday, March 7, 2014 with Rev. David Cheek officiating. Burial will be in the Shannon Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Dick Moran, Jonathon Stafford, Josh Stafford, Jim Maher, ricky Miller and Glenn Allen Lowe, Jr. Honorary Pallbearers will be Jerry Nash, Bill Mers, Gaylord Middleton, Jim Grunke, Wallace Hickmon and Larry Phillips. Visitation will be held at the Knox and Brothers Funeral Home on Thursday, March 6, 2014 from 6 to 8 PM. Memorials may be made to the Gideon Bibles, the May’s Lick Baptist Church Building Fund, the Shannon United Methodist Church Building Fund or to Hospice of Hope.
