Karen Lynn Masaniai

Maysville - Karen Lynn Spencer Masaniai, 52, of Maysville, Kentucky died Monday, October 16, 2017. Karen was a 1983 graduate of Mason County High School. She was a veteran of the US Air Force, stationed at the McClellan Air Force Base in Sacramento, CA. She was the operator of Uptown Salon and was a well known cosmetologist in the Maysville community. She had received recognition of her career service from CASA in 2015 and most recently was the nominee of the “Best of the Best Hairdresser” in 2017.

She was the most selfless person anyone could meet. Her children and grandchildren were her world. Karen worked very hard to make sure she always provided for her family. She loved big Sunday dinners with her family and Monday shopping trips with her mother, sister, grandbabies, nieces and nephews. She was loved by many and will be missed by all of her family and friends. God definitely broke the mold with her!

Karen was born in Fleming County, KY on January 1, 1965 the daughter of Linda Collins Hord of Maysville, KY and the late James Stanley Spencer. Besides her mother, she is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Nicole Masaniai Gordon (Todd P. Gordon) and her son, Jeffrey Williams all of Maysville, KY; two grandchildren, Kaionii Gordon and Koa Jane Gordon; Fiance, Mark Selby and his children, Blaike Selby and David Allen Selby of Maysville, KY; her sister and her brothers, Kim Waldren (Phil), Jimmy Spencer (Rebecca) and Curtis Allen Spencer all of Maysville, KY and her nieces and nephews, Martin Joseph Spencer, Eugene Cooley, Jessica Cooley, Kami Leigh Waldren, Katie Lyn Waldren and Cody Allen Spencer.

A memorial service for Karen Masaniai will be held at the Knox and Brothers Funeral Home at 6:30 PM Friday, October 20, 2017 with Rev. Byron Mills officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday from 5:00 PM until the hour of the memorial service. A memorial dinner will be held at Karen’s home, 504 F Street, Maysville, KY 41056 on Saturday, October 21, 2017 beginning at 1:00 PM.
