
Roger S. Simons, 85, resident of Circle Drive, died Monday, August 29, 2011, in Lexington at the University of Kentucky Medical Center after an extended illness. Mr. Simons was born in the Dover area on February 17, 1926, the son of the late Orville and Lucile Sledd Simons. He served in the US Army during World War II in Germany, France and England and was honorably discharged in 1946. Mr. Simons is survived by his wife Berdina Moore Simons. They were married on July 19, 1946 and they had one daughter, Andrea, who is deceased. Also surviving is his brother, Norman R. Simons of Maysville. Roger and Berdina became the proud grandparents of one grandson, Billy Ray Barrett and one granddaughter, Nicole (Eddie) Parker. They have three great grand daughters, Robin, Melinda and Heather Barrett who live in Georgia. The latest pride and joy to come into their lives is a great grandson, Jaxson Parker Jones, whom Roger enjoyed immensely. Funeral services for Roger Simons will be held at 1:00 PM Friday, September 2, 2011, at Trinity United Methodist Church with Rev. Eric Patterson presiding. Entombment will follow in the Maysville Cemetery. Honorary Pallbearers will be the members of the Trinity Men’s Breakfast Group. Visitation will be Friday from 11:00 AM until the hour of the service at the church. Memorials may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church Endowment Fund, 26 West Third St., Maysville, KY 41056.
