Thomas E. Greene

Thomas E. Greene, 81, resident of East Fifth St., died Friday, May 17, 2013 at his residence. Mr. Greene was born in Dover on March 13, 1932 the son of the late Hobart and Elizabeth Gragston Greene. Mr. Greene was a carpenter and worked for many years for Verville Construction Company. He is survived by his wife of 52 years Frances Kirk Greene, a daughter Janice M. (Rev. Dwayne) Tuttt of Statesville, NC, two sons John E. Greene of Maysville, and H. Franklin (Susan) Greene of Lexington, seven grandchildren, and twelve great grandchildren. He is also survived by two sisters-in-law Rose Nelson and Martha Burns and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by five sisters, Dorothy Bowles, May Campbell, Emma Lawson, Hazel Mayberry, and Alma Bowles and two brothers, Billy Greene and Carlos Greene. Funeral services for Thomas Greene will be at the Knox and Brothers Funeral Home, Wednesday, May 22 at 2 P.M. with Rev. Dwayne L. Tutt of Thomas Chapel AME Zion Church of Conover, NC and Rev. Christopher Lee of Bethel Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow in the Rosemont Cemetery. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service.
