Barbara Bryant Hiers

Mrs. Barbara Hiers, 87 of Dahlonega passed away December 17, 2019. She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Jack Hiers. Barbara was born in College Park on August 21, 1932 to the late J. T and Irma Bryant. She loved church and she was an organist for many years, taught kindergarten for 30 years and loved to play bungo and scrabble. Barbara was a member of Berea Christian Church. Her two families met at East Point Christian Church where they helped build the church. It was also where she met Jack, courted and their wedding was the first one at the church. Mrs. Hiers is survived by her children, Brenda (Paul) Youngblood of Bloomington Springs, TN, Teresa (Gary) Boatwright of Douglasville, GA and Lori (Steve) Harris of Dahlonega, GA. Grandchildren, Bart (Tiffany) Youngblood of Barryville, VA, Daniel (Mindy) Youngblood of Baxter, TN, Mallory Mashburn of Dahlonega, GA, Matthew Mashburn of Atlanta, GA, Rebecca (Jorge) Castillo of Douglasville, GA Stephen (Melissa) Harris of Jackson, GA, and Heather Boatwright of Atlanta, GA. Eleven great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 5:00PM - 8:00PM on Friday, December 20, 2019 at the Funeral Home. Rev. David Fulton will officiate the Funeral Service at 11:00am on Saturday, December 21, 2019 at Haisten Funeral Home. Interment will follow at College Park Cemetery. Those desiring may send contributions to the Food Pantry at Berea Christian Church.
