Mr. Bennie Joe McDonald, age 88 of Augusta, formerly of Morrow, passed away May 13, 2016. He was born in Atlanta, Georgia to the late Grady Francis McDonald, Sr. and Annie Wheeler McDonald. Joe was preceded in death by his wife, Frances McDonald and by siblings, Mary Parris, Grady Francis McDonald and James Melton McDonald. Joe faithfully served his country in the United States Army during WWII and the Korean War. He retired from Georgia Tech as a Sports Equipment Coordinator. He was a former State Commander and fundraiser for American Legion Post 258. Joe enjoyed baseball and football. Survivors include his niece, Patty Parris and caregiver, Cindy Smith. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 17, 2016 - 11:00 am at Haisten Funeral Home. Rev. Don Russ will officiate. Interment will follow at Westview Cemetery, meeting at the gate at 1:00 pm.
