Bertram Jerald Hooker, age 71, of McDonough, Georgia passed away on Sunday, March 6, 2022. Bert was born September 26, 1950 in Macon, Georgia to the late William Edward and Elizabeth Bernice Hunnicutt Hooker. He faithfully served in the Georgia National Guard and retired after 43 years with Georgia Power. He was an active member of Bethany Baptist Church, where he was a member of the choir, would sing solos, was in the Men's Quartet and was a co-Sunday School teacher. He was a proud grandfather to his 12 grandchildren. Bert was a collector of things he deemed important. He was also an avid handyman, tinkerer, and Mr. Fix-it. Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Vernie Hooker; children, Clint (Julie) Hooker of Jasper, Brad (Brittany) Hooker of Locust Grove and Emily (Chhaya) Sei of McDonough; grandchildren, Grant, Molly, Sadie, Ella, Amelia, Addie, Maggie, Asher, Sarah, Haylie, Ben and Caleb; brother, Wilbern (Althea) Hooker of Macon; sister, Marty Gay of Byron; numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Friday, March 11, 2022 - 3:00 PM at Bethany Baptist Church. Rev. Al O'Quinn and Rev. Adam Ganong will officiate. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may visit the family Thursday from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions are asked to be made to the Bethany Baptist Church Building Fund or Sacred Journey Hospice in memory of Mr. Hooker.
