Byron Ray Pate

Mr. Byron Ray Pate, age 85, of McDonough, GA passed away on August 7, 2019. Mr. Pate was born in the Bladen County community of Rowan, North Carolina to the late Bertha Horrell Pate and Walter H. Pate. After his honorable discharge from the United States Armed Forces, Mr. Pate moved to Georgia where he met his late wife, Ollie Jane Pate. He served as a police officer in the Atlanta Police Department for twenty-five years. After retirement, Mr. Pate enjoyed travelling, scientific research, academic pursuits, and investigating cold cases from his tenure in the Atlanta Police Department. Mr. Pate is survived by his three daughters, Linda Mitchell (Mark), Sandra Allen (Barry), and Cynthia Pate, as well as his three grandchildren, Hannah and Adan Mitchell, and Cory Tanajewski. A memorial service for Ray Pate will be Saturday, August 10, 2019 at 11:00 AM in the chapel of Haisten Funeral Home in McDonough, GA. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Prayers for Paws or the Henry County Humane Society.
