

His early childhood was spent in Montego Bay, Jamaica. Where he attended Montego Bay Technical Trade School and graduated as a professional carpenter. As a young carpenter, he married the love of his life, Carmell Joyce (Campbell). Cecil and Carmell immigrated to the United States, where he was employed by the Greenvale School System in Scarsdale, NY for over 25 years. He and his wife relocated to Locust Grove, Georgia, where they both enjoyed retirement. Unfortunately, Cecil’s health started to decline leaving his wife to take care of him until his last breath on June 11th, 2023. Just 4 days from his 78th birthday.
Cecil leaves his loving wife of 52 years, Carmell Joyce Hanson; 2 sons, Mark (Marjorie) of Jamaica and Michael of Florida; 2 daughters, Michelle (Derron) of New York and Christine of New York; Grand children, Crystal, Andre, Tiffany, Shanelle, Nicholas, Jovannah, and Jada; 6 Great grandchildren; 2 Godson, Dexter and Jessie; 1 Brother, Fabian; Cousins, Athlene, Grace, Rose, Phyllis and Robert; Aunt, Enid; Special friends, Dennis & Jermaine Monteque, The Hamiltons, Carmen, Luther & Earline Tribbles, Merva, Denise(NY), The Gorings (FL); Sister-in-law Lucille Cooper, niece Evelyn Cooper, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Cecil enjoyed singing and music and will surely be missed.
A visitation for Cecil will be held Wednesday, June 21, 2023 from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Haisten Funerals & Cremations, 1745 Zack Hinton Parkway, McDonough, Georgia 30253. A celebration of life will be Thursday, June 22, 2023 at 11:00 AM at the Tabernacle of Praise Church International, 1640 GA-42 NORTH, McDonough, GA 30253, with an hour prior visitation. The entombment will occur Thursday, June 22, 2023 at Eastlawn Memorial Park, 640 McGarity Rd, McDonough, Georgia 30253.
