It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Charles Michael “Mike” Phillips. Mike passed away peacefully on September 17, 2026, at his home in McDonough, GA. He was born on March 11, 1938, in Ellenwood, GA.
Mike had a successful career in the trucking industry. After 33 years as an employee of Genuine Parts Company/Rayloc Merchandise Distribution Service (RMDS), Mike retired in 2001 as Vice President and General Manager of the Transportation Division. He also served on the Board of Directors of the Georgia Motor Trucking Association, as President from 1994-1996, and then as Chairman of the Board from 1997-1999.
In his recreational time, Mike enjoyed golf, boating, and horses. He will be remembered for his outgoing personality, his ability to lead others, his great sense of humor, but most of all his love of people.
He was a member of Pinecrest Baptist Church.
Mike is survived by his beloved wife of 36 years, Joy; his three sons, Chuck, Ron (Patti), Greg (Allison); as well as 6 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandson, 1 niece, and extended family members. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Jesse Phillips and Lois Elizabeth Phillips, and brother, Joseph Wayne Phillips.
Funeral Services will be held at Haisten Funeral Home, 1745 Zack Hinton Parkway South, McDonough, GA 30253.
Visitation hours are Thursday, October 8th, from 6:00pm – 8:00pm and Friday, October 9th, from 12:00pm – 2:00pm. Funeral Service will be held on Friday, October 9, 2026 from 2:00pm – 3:00pm.
Interment will follow at Eastlawn Memorial Park, 640 McGarity Rd, McDonough, GA 30252
