Curtis Wayne Bates passed on August 31, 2026, at the age of 68. Born on July 6, 1958, in Atlanta, GA to the late Curtis Vinson and Doris Winnette Bates. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife Brenda Bates.
Wayne is survived by his daughter Stephanie Kronewitter; two grandchildren Ariel (Keaton) Beer and Zachary Mclean; sister Darlene (William) Golden; great grandchildren Barron, Arabella, and Adaleigh Beer; nieces and nephews Beth Laughlin, Jennifer (Joe) Booth, Caitlin (Shaun) Foster, and Curtis (Melissa) Wilson; and beloved family and friends.
He graduated in 1976 from North Clayton High School. After graduation he went to work in the trucking industry for 46 years. Wayne was a member of Pinecrest Baptist Church in McDonough, GA. He was a devout Christian, enjoyed reading and collecting eagles. Wayne was kind, gentle, and never met a stranger. He loved his family and friends, and will be greatly missed by those left behind.
The family will greet friends at Haisten Funerals & Cremations, 1745 S Zack Hinton Pkwy, McDonough, GA 30253, on Thursday, September 3, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM. His Funeral Service will be on Thursday, September 3, 2026, at 12:00 PM in the Haisten Chapel. Following services a committal will take place at Sherwood Memorial Park and Mausoleum, 6841 Tara Blvd, Jonesboro, GA 30236.
