Dennis Ray Fulton, age 94, went to be with the Lord September 30, 2026. He was born on March 9, 1932 in a consolidated coal camp near Jenkins, Kentucky. He was the son of the late Howard Austin Fulton and Ella Mae Mullins Fulton.
Dennis lived most of his early life in Bluefield, West Virginia, where he met his wife of 67 years, the late Wanda Jean Wallace Fulton. He graduated from Johnson Bible College (currently Johnson University) in Knoxville, Tennessee in 1954, and went on to preaching ministries in North Carolina, Tennessee, Illinois, Indiana, Florida, and Georgia. He was awarded an honorary doctorate from Kentucky Christian University.
During his years of ministry, Dennis preached the gospel in 12 different nations, as well as the continent of Australia. While ministering in Illinois, he was a host minister on “The Living Word,” a live television program that answered call-in Bible questions. He was the chairman of the African Christian Missions, Johnson Bible College board of trustees, as well as a director of Standard Publishing Company, Christian Television Mission, and Mission Services. Dennis was deeply involved in the North American Christian Convention, serving as Registration Chairman, the National Prayer Chairman, Vice President, and ultimately the President of the NACC in Seattle, Washington in 1980.
In his later years, he was declared to be a Kentucky Colonel, the highest civilian award in the state of Kentucky. He became an author in his 80’s.
Dennis had his private pilot’s license for over 40 years. He flew Pipers, Cessnas, and Beach Bonanzas, his favorite being a green and white 2 seat Er Coupe, with Irish linen wings. He often flew to speak at revivals all over the USA.
Dennis’s highest calling was to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ. His favorite verse was Acts 20:24, “However, I consider my life worth nothing to me; my only aim is to finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me—the task of testifying to the good news of God’s grace.” His life was spent in an effort to fulfill this calling.
Dennis is predeceased by his son, Mark Fulton, brother, Eugene Fulton, sister, Glenita Fulton Morehead, grandson, Josiah Fulton, and granddaughter, Johanna Price Calfee. He is survived by his children: Steve Fulton (Penny), Rachel Price (Jim), David Fulton (Janet), and Ruth Smith (Dale), as well as 14 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
